Chicago Avenue Corridor Plan Meeting 11/15
Chicago Avenue Corridor Steering Committee,
I am pleased to announce that the draft Chicago Avenue Corridor Plan is available for review on the project web site:
We will hold a public open house on Tuesday, November 15 from 6:30-8:30 PM at St. Mary’s Event Center (formerly Zurah Shrine Center) at 2540 Park Ave to present the draft plan and receive feedback. At the last steering committee meeting, the unanimous direction I received was to provide a presentation at 7:00 and use the rest of the time for informal discussions around display boards with plan graphics and summaries. I’ll have other City staff with me to help, but I’ll also be counting on all of you to help represent the plan and process as you have done so well to date.
I have attached a flyer advertising the public meeting. It’s in the process of being translated to Spanish and Somali. I’ll send those out as soon as I receive them. Please post/distribute as you have in the past. I’m happy to provide hardcopies to anyone who asks. At the bottom of this email is some text you can use in an email to your distribution lists. Please feel free to edit and personalize it. I’ll be emailing all past meeting attendees and notifying 500 property owners via U.S. Mail.
Finally, some of you expressed interest in reviewing and commenting on the draft plan using Microsoft Word. If you are interested in a Word version of the plan, please email me directly. It’s a big file, so I do not want to clog everyone’s inboxes.

The City of Minneapolis and the Chicago Avenue Corridor Plan Steering Committee invite you to a community open house to review and discuss the draft Chicago Avenue Corridor Plan, a 20-year vision for Chicago Avenue between I-94 and the Midtown Greenway. The draft plan guides future rehabilitation and redevelopment of buildings, and includes proposed zoning changes. It also addresses multimodal transportation, urban design, and community development.
