Midtown (Lake Street) Art Contest

The Lake Street Council has put out a call to artists to help them brand the Midtown Area of Lake Street.  The Council calls the area between 35-W and Hiawatha Avenue as the Midtown portion of Lake Street.

The Lake Street Council's offices are located in Midtown.

From the project website:

The Midtown area is home to businesses that have been here for nearly 100 years; and in the most recent 15-20 years, we have seen a strategic Lake Street revitalization effort driven largely by new immigrant businesses.
The Midtown Art Project contest is open to individuals, schools or other arts organizations which are familiar with the area.

The goal of this project is to create:

  1. A logo for the Midtown Area that will be welcomed and used by the area business community to describe this area of Lake Street
  2. A tagline which describes the area (e.g. “Where Cultures  Meet!”)
Both the logo and tagline should capture the following descriptions and assets of the Midtown Area:
  • Soul and Spirit
  • Diverse and  Multicultural
  • Welcoming to All
  • Great Food and Entertainment
  • Midtown Greenway and Bike Friendly
  • Affordable, Accessible Housing
  • Over 100-years of History, including horses, bicycles, streetcars, automobile and LRT
  • Unique Shopping
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Active, Supportive Communities
